Could the Chinese military be linked to FDIC cyberattacks?

If we’ve learned anything in the last few months it’s that seemingly, no entity is safe from hacking. From banks to ballot boxes (or rather, voter registration systems), occurrences of high security breaches have been on the rise. And now, the FBI is investigating how hackers managed to make their way into computers at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Unfortunately, this isn’t a new case — it’s been going on since at least 2010.

As per a new Reuters reports, FDIC

Snap doubled its acquisitions in 2016 as it builds toward IPO

As much of the world was welcoming Santa Claus down their chimneys, news emerged this week that Snap, the company behind perennially popular social network Snapchat, had acquired augmented reality (AR) startup Cimagine Media for “up to” $40 million.

Founded in 2012, Cimagine works on computer vision and real-time image-processing technologies, which is entirely in line with Snap’s mission to be a “camera company” that pushes far beyond its ephemeral photo-sharing roots into myriad other areas, including augmented reality and physical cameras.

Indeed, Snapchat (the company) rebranded as Snap in September and launched its first piece of hardware — a pair of $130 connected glasses, called Spectacles.

Aadhaar Payment App: Here's how it works

Government of India to launch Unified Payment Interface (UPI) based Aadhaar Payment app tomorrow.

So there's good news! Soon, consumers will be able to get rid of their stacks of plastic money, the confusing sets of passwords, and the fear of their digital payment account passwords being stolen. Answering the essays of criticism to the digital mobile wallets, the government of India is now set to launch the Aadhaar Payment app, which as the name suggests, will facilitate Aadhaar-linked digital payments.

The Aadhaar Payment app, which is scheduled to be launched tomorrow, that is December 25, uses consumer's Aadhaar card details and their linked bank account details, along with their biometric scans to authenticate transactions. Which means, that users would no more need to download wallet apps, and can make transactions and purchases directly using their Aadhaar card number, with the help of Unified Payment Interface (UPI). Here is how that works.

So you must have been receiving constant notifications from your bank lately, to update your Aadhaar card details with them. So, that was for a reason. Those linked bank account details with Aadhaar is being planned by the government to digitize your payments. How this would work is, if things go as planned, your each bank account, would be linked with your Aadhaar details. Now, the Aadhaar Payment app has two sides to it, one is the merchants app, and the other is the consumer app. ALSO READ: Aadhaar Payment App to launch tomorrow

While the consumer app is just another form of mobile wallet, which is linked with your Aadhaar card in this case, that can be used to make quick online transactions. However, the primary part of the Aadhaar Payment app is the merchant app. And the interesting bit of the entire merchant version of the Aadhaar Payment app is that it does not require the consumer to install that app in their phone's to successfully make payments, like how you need it right now in case of mobile wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge and the likes.

Talking about the merchants app, in essence, all that the merchant would need for the Aadhaar Payment app to work is an Android smartphone, and a biometric scanner. Now, when a consumer makes purchase, they would just require to share their Aadhaar card detail, which would automatically list down their linked bank account, and choosing the favoured bank account will process the payment from that particular bank, which will further be authenticated using biometric scans (flashback to the multiple fingerprint and biometric scans that you gave for making your Aadhaar cards). ALSO READ: Now, you can make payments via Aadhaar Card and mobile number only

Also, in case you are wondering, in an event where a customer has two accounts in the same bank, when you link your accounts with Aadhaar, you would be asked to choose a primary account out of the two, so that whenever any Aadhaar-based transaction is done it will credit or debit from that chosen account by default.

The Aadhaar Payment app aims to eliminate the fee payments for service providers like card companies such as Mastercard or Visa, which has been a stumbling block in merchants switching to digital payments making it affordable to even merchants in remote villages, said people familiar with the development.

Morgan Freeman voices AI assistant Jarvis in Mark Zuckerbergs film

Mark Zuckerberg and Morgan Freeman have teamed up just in time for Christmas to deliver a new futuristic film featuring a home-help Artificial Intelligence.

Only available on Facebook, the film captures the magic of daily life when Zuckerbergs AI called Jarvis assists with everything from playing with the children until you wake up, to passing you the days clothing as you walk to the kitchen, to having toast waiting when you get there, observes The Telegraph.

In the video, the actors booming voice greets Zuckerberg when the Facebook CEO wakes up in the morning. Jarvis also plays music and helps him get dressed by firing him a gray t-shirt with a T-shirt cannon. After catching the shirt, Zuckerberg turns, smiles and says, "Hell yeah."

Zuckerbergs "fun" alternate reality film shows off the functions of his very own Jarvis, which has been a year in the making.

Last year, Zuckerberg announced that he wanted to harness Facebooks AI technology to help in his home and created an app that would help the projects debut.

Top 5 Smart Phones of the Year 2016

Best Smart Phones in World 2016

Check Out Best Smart Phones of 2016

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Samsung is the first company to bring its flagship smartphone to India. The phone maker has updated the specification sheet and refined the whole glass and metal design it introduced last year with the Galaxy S6 range. Also, the phone is now waterproof and allows microSD cards for upto 200GB. Samsung has employed an all new Exynos 8890 SoC on the new Galaxy S7 Edge which is among the fastest in the business. There is 4GB of RAM and the phone is available in 32GB of internal storage. The new flagship still features an AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1440p resolution but the screen size has been increased from 5.1-inches to 5.5-inches. This has enabled Samsung to increase the battery size from 2600mAh to 3600mAh which is increased the battery life dramatically. The biggest changes in the phone perhaps is the new 12MP dual-pixel camera which is able to good pictures even in low lighting conditions. Specs: Display: 5.5-inch, 1440p SoC: Exynos 8890 RAM: 4GB Storage: 32GB Camera: 12MP, 5MP Battery: 3600mAh OS: Android 6.0

Just like the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the Galaxy S7 is also powered by an Exynos 8890 SoC and 3GB of RAM. What makes it different is the screen size and the overall design of the phone. Unlike the S7 Edge, the Galaxy S7 has a simpler candybar design, with materials used still being glass and metal. The 5.1-inch display is a Super AMOLED panel with 2560x1440-pixel resolution. This compact flagship smartphone offers the same camera setup as the S7 Edge, and hence, the image quality you get from the 12MP Dual Pixel camera is great. The 3000mAh battery will last you for a day on average, but if you happen to be a heavy user, the Galaxy S7 supports fast charging and wireless Qi charging standards. Specs: Display: 5.1-inch, 1440p SoC: Exynos 8890 RAM: 4GB Storage: 32GB Camera: 12MP, 5MP Battery: 3000mAh OS: Android 6.0

Launched back in April this year and available in a handful of markets currently, the Pink Gold color variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is now available for purchase in India as well. The South Korean company has the model listed on its official India website for INR 50,900 (around $750).
So there's no change in price as other color variants also carry the same price tag. The listing further reveals that for another INR 2,980 (INR 1,990 + INR 990), you can also get the new Gear VR headset and avail a screen replacement offer as well.

While the standard Galaxy S7 also comes in Pink Gold, the device's listing on Samsung's India website reveals that the model is yet to be officially made available in the country.

OnePlus 2 Now Receiving OxygenOS 3.5.5 Update

OnePlus 2 Now Receiving OxygenOS 3.5.5 Update

Chinese mobile startup OnePlus is now releasing an update to its OnePlus 2 smartphones, which will bring the new OxygenOS version 3.5.5 to OnePlus 2 devices. As a significant update, OxygenOS 3.5.5 finally offers the VoLTE support for select carriers, however forgoing the anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. OnePlus says that the OxygenOS 3.5.5 rollout is occurring in a phased manner, and will reach only a small proportion of users initially, although a broader rollout is expected in coming days.

With OxygenOS 3.5.5, OnePlus 2 users will be able to make VoLTE calls for some carriers only. The company, however, doesn't list the carrier names - notably though, the VoLTE enabling update for the OnePlus 2 was announced by OnePlus India in September, with specific reference to enabling the feature for Reliance Jio networks.
Apart from the VoLTE support, the update brings minor updates and redesign to the interface. New features includes App Lock, Battery Saving Mode, Gaming Mode, new Alert Slider options, and a new Volume Adjustment Bar. There are also some bug fixes and shelf optimisations that have been addressed with this update. This OxygenOS 3.5.5 update doesn't bring the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat to OnePlus 2 devices. The Android security patch level has been updated to December 1 with this build.

If you're going to update your OnePlus 2, you need to keep in mind that this update will replace your Clock, Calculator and Messages app to the stock OnePlus apps if you never updated their corresponding Google apps. You can choose to download them later if you like Google's stock apps. Apart from that, a lot of configurations will be reset after the update like the device name, ringtones, accent colours, and the battery bar indicator.

Besides, OnePlus is also gathering feedback from OnePlus 2 users after they update their smartphones to OxygenOS 3.5.5. On its forum, OnePlus has given some useful links as well if you somehow want to downgrade your OnePlus 2 firmware to OxygenOS 3.10. As we mentioned that the update is rolling out in a phased manner, so OnePlus 2 users who have not received any update notifications yet, should receive the OTA update notification in a next few days.

Nokia sues Apple in Europe and the US for infringement of Nokia patents

Nokia sues Apple in Europe and the US for infringement of Nokia patents

Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced that it has today filed a number of complaints against Apple in Germany and the US, alleging that Apple products infringe a number of Nokia patents.

As one of the world's leading innovators, and following the acquisition of full ownership of NSN in 2013 and Alcatel-Lucent in 2016, Nokia now owns three valuable portfolios of intellectual property. Built on more than EUR 115 billion invested in R&D over the past twenty years, our tens of thousands of patents cover many important technologies used in smartphones, tablets, personal computers and similar devices.

Since agreeing a license covering some patents from the Nokia Technologies portfolio in 2011, Apple has declined subsequent offers made by Nokia to license other of its patented inventions which are used by many of Apple's products.

Ilkka Rahnasto, head of Patent Business at Nokia, said: "Through our sustained investment in research and development, Nokia has created or contributed to many of the fundamental technologies used in today's mobile devices, including Apple products. After several years of negotiations trying to reach agreement to cover Apple's use of these patents, we are now taking action to defend our rights."

These actions have been filed with the Regional Courts in Dusseldorf, Mannheim and Munich in Germany and the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, with 32 patents in suit across all of the actions, covering technologies such as display, user interface, software, antenna, chipsets and video coding. Nokia is in the process of filing further actions in other jurisdictions.

Nokia Android Phone Rumor Images Leaked | Nokia D1C

 Nokia D1C Images leaked

Video Views on Nokia D1C ,Watch

Nokia may unveil a high-end Android smartphone alongside the much-rumoured Nokia D1C, if the latest leaks are to be believed.

A new report citing a Chinese tipster claims that Nokia's upcoming high-end smartphone will pack a Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAM, and a 23-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss lens. An earlier report suggested that the high-end Nokia phone may sport a 5.2-inch or 5.5-inch screen size and come with 2K (QHD) display.

One of the highlight features of the upcoming flagship Nokia Android phone was said to be the Zeiss lens for the primary camera, something that was seen on earlier Nokia devices. The high-end Nokia Android phone is also expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box. Nokia's Android smartphone is also rumoured to come with waterproof capability alongside sporting a metal unibody design.
A couple of leaked images show an all-metal phone with Nokia branding at the rear. Unfortunately, the turned off display doesn't show anything at the front. The leaked Nokia smartphone images couldn't be verified and we advise readers to take the images with a pinch of salt considering this could be an early prototype of the high-end Nokia flagship.

We can expect more details about the Nokia smartphones to be available as we come close to the MWC 2017 event that kicks off on February 27 in Barcelona.

Amidst several leaks and rumours around Nokia's re-entry into smartphones, HMD Global, which owns the exclusive rights to use the Nokia branding on mobile devices, recently unveiled the Nokia 150 and Nokia 150 Dual SIM phones. The Nokia 150 and Nokia 150 Dual SIM basic phones will be available in select markets from Q1 2017, starting with APAC, IMEA, and Europe.

HMD Global, the Finnish company, also recently confirmed that the first Nokia-branded Android smartphone will make its way in the first half of 2017 and the launch will happen at MWC 2017.

HTC 10 Will Be Replaced Soon by HTC X10 | HTC

HTC 10 will be replaced soon by HTC X10

You Can Also Watch Video talk about HTC X10 Watch Video

It appears as if there is an unannounced HTC smartphone on the horizon. The HTC X10 specifications have trickled out ahead of a formal announcement, and we’re here to tell you what to expect from HTC’s next mid-ranger.
Once upon a time, there was a glorious smartphone manufacturer called HTC. They were at the cutting-edge of things, and somewhere along the way turned into a variant factory. That’s not necessarily a bad thing considering most of their mid-rangers are pretty high powered. Pricing and some other funky decisions have left the company in a lurch although they have high hopes for the future. The X10 could be one of their first handsets of 2017 and we’ve got an idea of the HTC X10 specifications.
The HTC X10 specifications put it in the mid-range glass due to a FHD panel clocking in at 5.5-inches and 3GB of RAM. The processor will hum along however as t’s the MediaTek P10, which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz with a Mali-T860 GPU. There was no mention of the storage capacity, but it will have a 13MP rear snapper with OIS. Everything else is unknown at this time aside from one key factor… the price.
Most mid-rangers won’t break the bank, and neither will the HTC X10 if this rumors pans out. The handset could debut at around $288 which is fair given what’s under the hood. That said, it’s not that great compared to other handsets in its class unless the X10 has some extra bells & whistles we aren’t privy to.
